A heartwarming holiday tale from the author of A YEAR ON LADYBUG FARM

Paul and Derrick have hit their stride with the Hummingbird House Bed and Breakfast, a destination of distinction in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Guests are coming from all over the country to enjoy a Christmas weekend extravaganza, featuring sleigh rides, champagne suppers, holiday concerts and spa treatments. Of course there are a few glitches twenty Christmas trees to be decorated in less than a week, an absentee massage therapist, and--perhaps most distressing of all-- the unexpected presence of three school-age children in the Hummingbird House, courtesy of their saucy young housekeeper Purline.

While Purline tries to teach her children, as well as her bosses, the true meaning of Christmas, the lost and the lonely-- often disguised as the wealthy and the privileged-- are drawn to the Hummingbird House. Among them are

The author of a famous book on miracles who has lost his faith
A family secretly on the verge of disaster
A husband and wife facing their last Christmas together

With the help of a Harley-riding stranger, a series of unexpected events, and the innocent good intentions of their hosts, healing comes to the wounded and miracles unfold, proving once again that at the Hummingbird House you may not always find what you expect, but you’ll always find what you need.

“Full of comedy and sentiment”
--Kirkus reviews on THE HUMMINGBIRD HOUSE

Christmas at the Hummingbird House edition by Donna Ball Literature Fiction eBooks

This is just the second book I've read by Donna Ball and I am actually amazed. The first was a very intense mystery. This one was a delightful, almost mystical story of friends and family and the values they learn while spending Christmas at a B and B in the Shenandoah Valley. Ms. Ball is one of the finest writers I have ever encountered. Her books are entertaining, filled with characters that are most interesting and believable. Whether it is a deep, intriguing mystery or a lighter, warm tale, her books hold your attention and do so without crossing the boundaries of bad taste. I can't wait to read another by her. I would definitely recommend her books to anyone I know.

Christmas at the Hummingbird House edition by Donna Ball Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I've read all the books in this series, and I've loved every one. The characters are so incredibly real and believable. I would very much like to spend more time with them in the future, should there be either another Ladybug Farm book or another Hummingbird House book.
This was cute and entertaining, but so many characters to keep track of! Oh my. While some of them were well-defined, others seemed to blur together. But the story was cute.
I will read this book every December. It is the perfect holiday story -full of hope and seasonal charm. There are many characters involved, from the owners of Hummingbird House (a boutique hotel), their neighbors, and a variety of guests. Oh yes, and an interesting handyman.
Rating is in context of genre. Ball writes characters who feel real, the dialogue is believable. The story is engaging and pleasant. It's like spending time with old friends. I'm a fan of her dog mysteries and now a fan of this series.
I enjoyed this story so much and it was the perfect Christmas story. Derrick and Paul have had the inn open 6 months now and have decided to take on Christmas. They put together an awesome Christmas vacation package and thus the adventure begins. All the characters we have come to enjoy are back including Purline and Harmony plus the girls of Ladybug Farm drop in.
Donna Ball's Ladybug Farm series is an all time favorite of mine & Hummingbird House is just as endearing & fun. I don't write plot spoiler reviews but I needed a fanciful Christmas story & Christmas at the Hummingbird House delivered. As always, the plot is fun, magical, and uplifting. Well worth the time to read it. Thank you Donna! and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
I read this book in two days and loved how the author described the Hummingbird house. I could picture the rooms, gardens and decorations vividly! I liked how the characters were woven together in the story although, I sometimes was confused with "who was who" at times as there were so many characters and separate stories going on.
I wished I had read the ladybug stories first as this book seems to follow that series. I enjoyed this author's writing enough that I will probably start that series next!
